Holy Week 2027: how to turn 3 leave days into 9 days off
Holy Week is one of the best-value breaks of the year, and in 2027 it comes early: March. According to the 2027 holiday list (Proclamation No. 1427), the Holy Week holidays are March 25-27:
- Thursday, Mar 25: Maundy Thursday
- Friday, Mar 26: Good Friday
- Saturday, Mar 27: Black Saturday
- Sunday, Mar 28: Easter Sunday
If you work Mon-Fri
The Holy Week holidays fall Thursday to Saturday. So you only need to file March 22-24 (Monday to Wednesday).
Result: continuous rest from Saturday, March 20 to Sunday, March 28. 3 leave days → 9 days off.
If you can only spare 2 days, file March 23-24 (Tuesday and Wednesday): March 23-28, 6 days off. With no leave at all, you still get 4 days (March 25-28).
If you work Mon-Sat
You work Saturdays, so the maths changes. File March 22-24: you're off from Sunday, March 21 to Sunday, March 28. 3 leave days → 8 days off. Want it longer? Also file Saturday, March 20: 4 leave days → 9 days off (March 20-28).

Holy Week trip tips
- File early. It's one of the most requested leave periods at work, and the first to file is often the one who gets it.
- Book early. Holy Week is peak season. Transport and places to stay sell out fast, and prices go up as the dates get closer.
- Know what's closed. Many shops, offices and services close or shorten hours on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Stock up on what you need.
- Going home to the province? Expect crowds at terminals and ports before Thursday and after Sunday. If you can, leave on Saturday, March 20 and come back on Saturday, March 27 to avoid the rush.
- If your plan is just to rest, staying home is fine too. 9 days off is still 9 days off.
What if something changes?
The Holy Week dates are already in the 2027 proclamation. But if the government adds a special day, we'll update the list and the planner. Check your plan again before you book.

Kung 2 leave lang ang kaya mo, i-file ang Mar 23-24 (Martes at Miyerkules): Mar 23-28, 6 days off. Kung wala kang leave, may 4 days ka pa rin (Mar 25-28).
Kung Mon-Sat ka
May pasok ka tuwing Sabado, kaya iba ang kuwenta. Mag-file ng Mar 22-24: off ka mula Linggo, Mar 21 hanggang Linggo, Mar 28. 3 leave → 8 days off. Kung gusto mo pang humaba, i-file din ang Sabado, Mar 20: 4 leave → 9 days off (Mar 20-28).

Mga tip para sa Holy Week trip
- Mag-file nang maaga. Isa ito sa pinaka-in-demand na leave sa opisina. Kadalasan, kung sino ang naunang nag-file, siya ang napagbibigyan.
- Mag-book nang maaga. Peak season ang Holy Week. Mabilis maubos ang biyahe at matutuluyan, at tumataas ang presyo habang papalapit.
- Alamin ang sarado. Maraming tindahan, opisina at serbisyo ang sarado o maikli ang oras tuwing Huwebes at Biyernes Santo. Mag-stock na ng kailangan.
- Uwi sa probinsya? Asahan ang dami ng tao sa terminal at pantalan bago mag-Huwebes at pagkatapos ng Linggo. Kung kaya, umalis nang Sabado, Mar 20 at bumalik nang Sabado, Mar 27 para iwas-siksikan.
- Kung relax lang ang plan, okay lang din magpahinga sa bahay. Sulit pa rin ang 9 days.
